About Us

For students balancing college with work and family, an extra $100-$200 at the right time — to pay the rent, or for a car repair, or for child care — can make the difference between being able to stay in school and having to drop out. With the COVID-19 crisis, this need has never been more acute. According to the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice, nearly 60% of college students have experienced issues with food, housing, or other basic needs since March 2020.

The Constance Fund has administered three programs. Its individual emergency aid grants program provides low-hassle emergency aid grants of up to $200 to individual college students. It’s Quick Grants program provides up to $2,000 to student groups leading mutual aid projects across the country. Its completion grants program provides selected students in their final year of their degrees with up to $4,000 to cover housing, child care, and other expenses, and support their degree completion. In 2020, the Constance Fund provided over $40,000 to individuals and student groups attending over 50 schools, including community colleges, public four-year colleges, private universities, and trade programs.
